09.10 is a strange day. After saying goodbye to the crew of the Pelican, I am on my own again - the next leg begins. Before the journey continues, I take advantage of the big city facilities and find a sports pub for today's NFL games. What starts out quietly turns into a full-blown party thanks to a bunch of Californians. I thus extend my stay by a day of regeneration and set off the next day - towards home!

To turn it into a little adventure, I take the alternative option again instead of the conventional route - pull over to the side of the road, stick out my thumbs and trust in the kindness of my fellow human beings. And friendly they are - almost everywhere I stop, drivers stop after 5 - 10 minutes to give me a lift.
So for the next few days I hitchhike from Amsterdam to Utrecht, to Liège (photo gallery below), to the Luxembourg border, by free Luxembourg public transport through Luxembourg to Schengen, by hitchhiking on to Vöcklingen and Stuttgart to Munich, from where I finally take the train to Vienna on 17 October.

So this chapter comes to an end. And now what? Even though I'll be staying in Austria for a while now, I haven't come back without plans and goals. Without going into too much detail, I certainly haven't finished with the sea yet. For the blog, however, that means a break for now.
Thanks to everyone who has followed my journey so far! I hope you enjoyed it too and enjoyed my reports!
See you later and stay awesome,
Yours, Ben
