Before continuing my journey to Sassnitz, I stop halfway in Stralsund. I didn't do much research about the city, but my decision to stop here is rewarded with one of the prettiest little old towns I've ever come across. A small self-guided tour (again visitsights.com) leads to impressive old buildings. But I love stroll sround and get lost in small medieval alleys that throw me right back into the time of the Hanseatic League. The whole old town here is surrounded by ponds and nature on one side and the Baltic Sea on the other.

In the evenings I'm lured to the coast by music and stumble into the Hafentage, a local festival here. The bands Enyp and Gruppa Karl Marx Stadt meet my taste exactly. I dance late into the night, before I head to Sassnitz the next day.
