Ruegen - National Park Jasmund

From Sassnitz I visit the Jasmund National Park on Ruegen. Here, beech forests stretch over the interior of the countryside, which trim the chalk cliffs down into the sea on the Baltic Sea coast. Very nice piece of land!

Especially the cripple beeches took my attention. This special type of beech is characterized by its snobbish stem and the very dense leaf curtain. Earlier they were seen as witchcraft, today the only scary thing here is the amount (and size) of the mosquitoes.
